I’ve only ever owned a handful of beauty products that have been so pretty that I’m actually afraid to use them. Most recently it’s been my MAC Cosmetics ‘Sideshow You” blush (I just love the Marge Simpson design imprinted in the blush) and now it’s my Burberry Autumn/Winter 2015 Runway Palette (£50/$70USD). I won’t be posting any looks in this particular post because I have yet to use the palette; however, I did want to show you the details in the packaging and overall product design while it’s still brand new!
It’s evident that a great deal of care has gone into designing the packaging for this particular palette. To start off, the box comes in a durable plastic “sheath” which is translucent, but printed all over with a lovely camouflage print. Inside the box is a soft, velvety plaid pouch which contains the actual eyeshadow palette. My only issue is that dust particles really seem to love the velvet (see photo below). Although it’s a bit of a dust collector, the velvet sheath is really beautiful and I love that it’s covered with the classic Burberry plaid print. Within the pouch is a little sleeve holding a set of three mini eyeliner brushes. So cute!
The palette itself is super gorgeous (and, like the velvet sheath, covered in a classic Burberry plaid design). The finish of the palette is a metallic/gunmetal colour- glossy, with a mirror effect. There’s a lot of weight to the palette, and it feels really durable and well-made. The inside of the palette contains a generously sized mirror that is a really nice size to look into (no struggle to see yourself).
The eye shadow is described as a “large camouflage print design in moody green, neutral and black hues. Inspired by the Burberry Bucket Bag in camouflage suede.” I haven’t yet swatched the colours, but they are three very usable, matte shades. I love that these shades are all completely matte, making them highly versatile and wearable at any age. You can read Dave Lackie’s write up on the palette (including tips for wearing the colours) here.
I received this palette as a gift from the brilliant and wonderful Dave Lackie. I honestly think he must be one of the most well-liked people on social media because he’s so responsive and helpful to everyone, even though he gets a ton of blog commets, tweets, etc. I definitely recommend you follow his account on twitter because he’s always tweeting out the latest and greatest beauty products AND giving many of them away. He also has an excellent website where he gives away loads of product as well. I have literally never seen anyone who gives away so much consistently wonderful products in my life!
Thank you so much for the palette, Dave!
